The upside is that you can install the software on as many of your computers as you wish, but the dongle must be present to use it. If the dongle is stolen, you're pretty much screwed.
The downside of course is if the dongle malfunctions, you have a bit of a hassle getting it replaced, you have to send in the broken one and pay a fee to replace it. The intent is that you only run one instance of the software - whichever computer you have the key plugged in to. Then there is a process to activate the dongle by copying your license info to it that involves accessing a particular internet site. To make matters worse, Hypersonic doesn't come with the dongle, that is an additional purchase you must make. The software then checks your system to make sure the dongle is present before it will run. Some of the included samples sound rather cheezy, especially the pianos.Ī dongle is a USB copy protection device that has to be plugged in to your computer in order for the software to work, like a key. Since Hypersonic was made for Steinberg by Wizoo, which is now owned by Digidesign, it's not clear what its future will beĤ. You cannot add your own samples to Hypersonicģ. As a VSTi, the Hypersonic supports driving it's keyboard using the computer's keys and the notes are exported as midi to sequencers that can accept midi from VSTi's.Ģ.
